Clinical expertise
Dr Saib Khogali is a consultant interventional cardiologist with specialist expertise in coronary and structural interventions. He has specialist expertise in TAVI and has performed over 3,000 TAVI cases using various approaches including: trans-femoral, subclavian, direct aortic and trans-carotid.
Dr Khogali treats the following conditions:
- valvular heart disease including aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation and aortic regurgitation
- ischaemic heart disease including NSTEMI (non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction) and STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction)
- stroke
- heart failure
- post-cardiac surgical interventions
He offers the following treatments
- transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
- PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention)
- mitral TEER (transcatheter edge-to-edge repair)
- PFO (patent foramen ovale) closure
- Paravalvular leak (PVL) closure
- LAAO (left atrial appendage occlusion)
Dr Khogali has been involved in developing multiple valve techniques and performed the first reported combined percutaneous TAVI and EVAR procedures, and has established and led the mitral/tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair program.

Biography
Dr Khogali trained at multiple prestigious institutions including the University of Birmingham, the University of Oxford and the University of Milan. He has previously served as the lead for transcatheter/structural heart interventions at the Heart and Lung Centre, New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton.
Since 2008, he has been at the forefront of TAVI innovation including establishing one of the first TAVI centre in the UK and developing multiple different and innovative valve techniques.
Research
Dr Khogali currently holds an associated professorship at the University of Birmingham, and has actively engaged in clinical research with several publications in peer-reviewed journals.
