Clinical expertise

Dr Rishi Pabary is a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine who has expertise in all areas of general paediatric respiratory medicine and specialist expertise in cystic fibrosis, sleep and non-invasive ventilation, bronchoscopy and interstitial lung disease.

Dr Pabary also provides outreach services to a number of hospitals that are affiliated with Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.



Biography

Dr Rishi Pabary graduated in medicine from Imperial College in 2002 and went on to specialise in paediatrics. He completed his subspecialty training in paediatric respiratory medicine in 2015.

Dr Pabary held positions at St. Mary’s, the Royal London and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for three years where he was focused on different areas of paediatric respiratory medicine including sleep and ventilation and lung transplantation. He then went on to join the trust as a consultant in 2017.


Research

Dr Pabary has been involved in numerous clinical studies in different areas of paediatric respiratory medicine including cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease and sleep and non-invasive ventilation.

Dr Pabary’s PhD thesis was on novel methods of diagnosis and treatment of pseudomonas aeruginosa in cystic fibrosis and his dissertation, for an MSc in Advanced paediatrics undertaken at the Institute of Child Health (UCL), focused on the use of nasal potential difference investigations in cystic fibrosis.

Teaching

Dr Pabary is the co-chair of the British Paediatric Sleep Society video conference and annual cystic fibrosis symposium at the Royal Society of Medicine. He is also module lead for the respiratory section of the Applied Paediatrics MSc Programme at Imperial College London.

He is also a regular invited speaker at national and international respiratory conferences, giving talks and presentations on a variety of paediatric respiratory conditions, and takes a key role in organisation of study days in areas including bronchoscopy and aspiration-associated lung disease.

Publications

Dr Pabary has written several peer reviewed papers in journals including the European Respiratory Journal, Journal of Cystic Fibrosis and Paediatric Respiratory Reviews.
