Dr Michalis Papadopoulos is a consultant paediatric gastroenterologist based at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

Biography
Dr Michalis Papadopoulos is a consultant paediatric gastroenterologist who specialises in gastrointestinal tract conditions and nutritional difficulties. He provides accurate diagnosis and management of a range of gastrointestinal disorders, supporting children with common and complex care needs. In addition he looks after patients with nutritional needs, such as coeliac disease.
Michalis qualified from Athens Medical School before moving to the UK and started his core training in paediatrics in London in 2005. He then undertook the London – Cambridge Deanery rotation for paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition subspecialty and did an MSc at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.
As part of his training, he worked in a number of hospitals, including Great Ormond Street, The Royal London, King’s College, Chelsea and Westminster and Addenbrookes. He has gained experience in the management of the whole spectrum of conditions within the subspecialty. On completion of his GRID training in 2017, Michalis was first appointed as a paediatric gastroenterology consultant at Nottingham University Hospital. In 2021 he moved to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Research
Dr Michalis Papadopoulos’ clinical interests are paediatric motility and functional disorders – he has contributed to a number of publications, most recently as the main author for the Motility Working Group consensus on the performance of radiopaque marker study as a way to assess colonic transit time.
Since 2024, Dr Papadopoulos has been chairing the Motility Working Group of the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
