Gastroenterology
We understand that gut conditions can have a profound impact on day-to-day life. Ongoing symptoms like bloating, pain, constipation, urgency, or food-related anxiety can affect your ability to work, socialise, travel, or simply eat with confidence.
Gastroenterology conditions we treat include:
- coeliac disease
- gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD)
- inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including constipation, diarrhoea, bloating and flatulence

Women’s health and fertility
Our specialist dietetic service offers personalised nutritional care and evidence-based guidance to support people through every stage of life, from fertility and pregnancy to menopause.

- pregnancy – pre- and post-natal

General nutrition advice
Our specialists can offer advice on diets to support good gut health, as well as nutrition support for malnourished or underweight patients. Our team also provide guidance and treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes, and those requiring lipid management.
Your first nutrition and dietetics appointment
Your first appointment is a full assessment which takes 1 hour. Our dietitian will take time to understand your medical history, symptoms, lifestyle and goals. They may ask about:
- eating habits and usual food intake
- how you were referred (for example, by a GP or specialist)
- lifestyle, including work, activity and routines
- medical history, including test results, medications, and supplements
- stress levels, sleep, and mental wellbeing
- symptoms and how they affect your daily life
- weight, height and BMI
Using this information, our dietitian will work with you to create a personalised diet and lifestyle plan. This plan will be tailored to your symptoms and goals, and is designed to be realistic and practical for your daily life.
Certain blood and stool tests may be required which can be booked at your appointment. Please note that tests will incur an additional fee.

Follow-up appointments
At your follow-up appointments, our dietitian will check in on your progress. They’ll ask about changes to your symptoms, how the plan has been going, and whether anything needs to be adjusted. You’ll receive clear next steps and ongoing support to help you keep moving forward.
Some patients may require support from other clinical services. In this instance, we can refer patients back to their GP or referrer, or we may write a referral letter to another service, if required.

- faecal calprotectin
- folate
- full blood count
- inflammatory markers
- iron studies
- liver function tests
- renal profile
- trace elements (including zinc, selenium, copper).

Monika Siemicka
Monika is a specialist dietitian with a wealth of knowledge, having worked in a number of clinical areas during the course of her career, including gastroenterology, women’s health, cancer, diabetes, weight management, kidney disease, and nutrition support. Her broad range of experience allows her to create personalised nutrition plans to suit each person.
Monika has been a registered dietitian for 20 years, working both in the NHS and privately. She has also worked for a number of charities giving presentations, creating written content on nutrition, and has been invited to speak at international conferences.
Monika will gather information about your diet, lifestyle and health, and work with you to create a manageable and sustainable plan tailored to your needs.
