Nestled in the heart of Chelsea and a stone’s throw away from London’s famous King’s Road, Royal Brompton Hospital is at the forefront of advancing heart and lung care.
Founded in the 1840s, initially to treat people suffering from tuberculosis, our hospital has a long-standing history of treating adults and children with heart and lung conditions.
We established Europe’s first adult cystic fibrosis clinic in 1964 and our hospital has grown into the largest treatment centre for the condition in Europe. Also, our adult congenital heart disease unit was the first of its kind in Europe and remains the largest.
Our new Royal Brompton Diagnostic Centre opened in 2022 and boasts the latest technologies to diagnose heart and lung conditions. This includes advanced cardiac MRI, CT, echocardiography, as well as interventional bronchoscopy – all in one building.
Royal Brompton Hospital has been ranked as one of the world’s best heart and lung hospitals by US Newsweek, the American weekly news magazine.
